The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach

The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was originally designed by Arnold Palmer Design Company. Letsche Design was commissioned in 2015 to redesign the golf course with the aim of preserving the fundamentals of the original design while incorporating new technology and current trends. The brief was to redesign a very playable golf course for its members though challenging for professionals too.

The course’s overall topography was modified to improve drainage, enhance sight lines and create visual cues with bunkers, trees and water features to indicate the optimal path from tee to green. Bail out areas were also created to save errant shots although the course remains unforgiving of poorly hit attack shots which lill likely end up in a penalizing bunker or the water.

Several key enhancements including a greater variety of tees, greens built to USGA standards and an expanded short game development area improving the overall playing experience.
