The West course at the Wentworth Club was originally design by Harry S. Colt in 1926 and is the most famous of the famous of the Surrey heath and heather courses.

The club is the most famous of the surrey courses and is the most televised course in Britain once hosting three professional events every year (World Match Play, PGA & Senior Masters but now only the PGA Championship. The West course was also the venue for the 1953 Ryder Cup resulting in a single point victory (6.5 - 5.5).
